1

A pigeon, feathered and aged,
city sad, cauliflower beak
inclines, one footed

begging

on parallel alleys,
speckled with aromatic leaves,
green coated rows of tired benches.

2

Winter seems postponed
by the congregation of
the salvaged bronze Sphere

iconized then

as tandem joggers steal the dragging
autumn sun peaking
through semi-nude wooden limbs.

3

Wind gusting gently over
checkered, glassy peaks
brings canopy rumors, whispers:

unlikely Pier “A” and Lady Liberty,

foliage of barkless tourists
Chinese artists of Hudson River
pets, pantomime, and flag fever.
