You suddenly appeared like a dazzling meteor among fireflies And among some clean, hot flamesof the genius of our ethnicity,among poets who wrote "a tongue like a honeycomb";
You have remained above all since thena "long frozen lightning",illuminating the stormy sky of Wallachian existence.
You later became Luceafărof the sufferings of our perennial nation,shining over all the golden lettersand throughout the history of the Daco-Roman lands,
"From the Dniester to the Tisza" And, here you areUniverse of eternal and living Poetry!
Whatever word I haveAnd whatever I write, Whatever I singAnd whatever we cry,
