“Berenice’s Hair” International Contest

The first edition, in Targoviste, Romania, 2008, organized by Children’s Palace Targoviste, is devided into the following sections:

• Creative writing (poetry, prose, essay, drama) in Romanian, English, French, German, Italian, Russian.
• Photography

• Drama

• Plastic Art

Artists between the following age categories are allowed to participate:
4-6 years
7-10 years
11-14 years
15-19 years

The literary writings (3 short stories, 5 poems, 3 essays, literary criticism – 2,5 pages, 2 drama plays ) will be typed using 12 point Times New Roman font) and will be sent by email in a document that will have the participant’s name, age and city, country and the chosen literary genre. The document will contain the signed works and an entry file with name and surname, city, country, age category, guiding teacher, telephone number, email address. A competitor can participate with texts of a single genre or he can register for all of them, but he/she will send different documents for each.
The plastic creations (paitings, posters, colagges) will be made in technique of his/her own free choice, on A4 paper format, with a tag on verso containing student’s name and surname , grade, name and surname of the guiding teacher, school, city, country. They can be sent by mail, until April 30th, 2008, to the following address: Palatul Copiilor Târgovişte, str Câmpulung, nr 9, Târgovişte, jud. Dâmbovița, or by email to: pctargoviste @yahoo.com, with the mention „For the „Berenice’s Hair”international contest” written on the envelop or in the email’s Subject.
Phographic creations :
Photography section has 3 categories :
- digital photography – black and white
- digital photography - portrait
- digital photography – various theme

The participants in photography section can register to any other category (one, two or three) with 3 (three) photographies each.

Drama
- Cd-s with the recorded plays along with entry files will be sent –
to the following address: Palatul Copiilor Târgovişte, str Câmpulung, nr 9, Târgovişte, jud Dâmbovița, or by email to: [email protected], with the mention "For the « Berenice’s Hair » international contest " written on the envelop or in the email’s Subject.
The awards for this section are: best performance, best direction, originality, best leading role and best supporting role (feminin, masculin), best costumes and decor, and the greatest award.

The deadline for all the sections is April 30th, 2008, after which the jury will analize the works until May 25, 2008.


On June 1st, 2008, exhibits with the selected works will be organized in the House of Educational Board of Dambovita and the « Ion Heliade Rădulescu » County Library.
The diplomas will be sent to the participants until June 30th, 2008.
On June and August, a virtual anthology of the literary, plastic and photographic creations, a movie with the awarded drama plays and an on-line magazine of the contest’s first edition will be created.
