Jean Chevalier (1906-1993) was a university lecturer in philosophy and theology before working for UNESCO, where he was Director of Relations for Member States. He left in 1964 to devote himself to writing and research. He published many works on topics such as St Augustine, Descartes, African religion, Sufism, human spirituality and transcendental meditation.
