Taking into account that this study refers to the elements that treat the liquidity and the fluidity in Marguerite Duras`s novels, we have worked with the concepts and the notions of the thematic criticism and of Gaston Bachelard`s poetics. In this working we have spotted the notions characterised by these two qualities, but both in a possitive and negative aspect.
Therefore, due to the complexes and to the rules of the bachelardian poetics, the durasian imagery is analysed both in a pleasant and in an unfavourable way. The mire, the alcohol, the hoarfrost, the clouds and the fog are the results of the application of the Ā«composition ruleĀ». They may receive efficacious connotation for the Duras`s universe and characters; however, being ambivalent, they also receive some negative significations like drowning in the rivers or the sea or like the physical and the spiritual degradation of the alcohol drunk in overdone amount. We considered the ambivalence, the duality, the transformation, the fluctuation, the movement and the regularity as fluids. Consequently, all that supports one of these states, becomes fluid in our theses. Regarding the liquidity, this one represents the feature of the water which streams unceasing and also of the human voice. Keywords (=themes): fluidity, liquidity, ambivalence, correspondence, composition, water, ground, fire, air, mud, alcohol, rain, sea, pole, hot fluidity, human heats, complexes, spiritual fluidity, physical fluidity, sand, isle, music, dance.
