IF THE FLAMES
by Sorana Lucia Salomeia If the flames have taken away from me Everything I have ever had on earth, If they have burnt down to ashes All my humble memories and dreams, If it has been written That my nest should one day turn Into a handful of straws After having kept my heart safe and warm For so many seasons, The shelter where I found my happiness And my dreams found the stream That would guide them to their accomplishment, If the merciless flames Have been meant to devour All they met in their way, If I have lost so much, I know my soul has also experienced Happiness, friendship and admiration. If I have lost, I know I have also won, If I have ever fell, I have also learned To stand up and move on, Watching the whimsical game of the flames. Copyrighted © Sorana Salomeia, Iasi, Romania
