Dust clings on my lashes
as I watch this old movie again This never ending love story of a single man and too many women His vanity overcomes me as he dashes out of my life, into my pain I try so hard to hang on, not feel sorry Looking over the past, how it was then He was not the magic man Just a copy cat A little too fat And so sad On a push of a button, I rewind fast to the beginning when under the rain he stands there, his hat heavy with the weight of his burden His ways awakens the hell out of ashes from journeys of dullness signed in shame he searches in vain the depth of feminity for burning desire, some fumes of when He was not the only man Just a copy cat Of this and that And I only felt bad Time froze as pause washes our faces leaving your soul with a single lane headed straight forward into our own reality We are the same, we take and don’t lend Play the movie again until guilt lashes Don’t you see the emptiness from blame pulls out the guts from my belly Which one should make amends? You, the copy cat Or the women who wear your hat Copyright ©2010 Johanne Farmer
