Beneath my eyes Homer’s poem comes back to life: Courageous Protesilaous! His helmet weighs heavy, Watching decidedly downward, With a tight jaw, broad and energetic chin, Obsessed by a single wish: the glory of the victorious! In his right raised arm, He tightly grips a weapon and is ready to hit.... His biceps are exquisite! Stepping upon the earth of Troy, Ignoring the oracle’s premonitions, Killed by the troyans! Leaving behind Laodamia who took her own life, Due to so much love.. Diadumenos so perfect, so harmonious, so sensual! The man of any woman’s dream! The athlete, the winner of the competition, Him, the victor, adorning himself with a precious wreath, Looking downward, calling his telluride forces.. The Amazon woman, the fighter, bloodied Heavy, fearless, With tight arms and legs But with a warm heart of a woman; Wise, warrior, Athena, Wearing her helmet with pride, Holding a spear in one hand and an owl in the other – The symbol of wisdom; The wild Artemis, keen, Easy, Almost floating in the woods With the bow and arrow; The twin – the bright Apollo With his serene olypian face... Beautiful, perfect Aphrodite, Born out of the foam of the sea... All beautiful, all proud, Noble, courageous, Immortalized in moments of grace, Of bodily and spiritual perfection. I’m afraid that the nights that will follow I will have ancient visions... Lost among gods and heroes, I stand unmoved. I wait the miracle: The statues will speak!
