A jasmine is growing
Just opposite my door. Once I was so sorrowful For it looked very poor. But now I am delighted For it is growing so well. I want it wild and wilder So no water I have poured. It has so many dancing shoots, Creeping between day and night. Now I see they are coming closer, Closer to the garden of my heart. My heart is turning into an Eden For the shoots to bear jasmine buds Blooming and perfuming the angels. If only you could be a newborn Eve. Jogjakarta, 18 August 2004
