AND THE DEMON SPOKE
I saw them losing shape into the sea, I saw them descending in the waves. The fragrance of lime and pine trees had penetrated their senses and love was the first dream they had ever dreamed. Their eyes no longer urged to watch outside the eyelids, their lips had then found an unique existence. The moon was smiling above them and blessing their love with light and fire, gilding their path and leading their steps towards celestial shelters. Yes, the moon was their only altar, their confident and mysterious protector. The stars were sliding down the night’s rainbows and pouring in their souls. But a demon laughed and cruelly whispered: “Oh, you poor insane lovers… Today’s fire tomorrow will be just ashes! You are just shadows and your love is an illusion. Tomorrow you will be stretching confused arms towards the non-existent, your lips will have no desire to unite in love’s kiss anymore. Tomorrow you’ll both be passing cold and silent past your dream of love and passion… Don’t you know you’re going to wake up and leave today’s lover in the hands of oblivion?†And so it was… The chain of kisses, touches and loving words was just a cloud of smoke that soon dispersed into nothingness. The demon spoke, knowing how ephemeral and deceptive the two lovers’ unity was. As a new dawn was born, something died in pain and tears and, freezing, turning into stone, the once unbreakable eternal love simply stopped breathing – it had nothing to live for.
