LOST SMILE
by Sorana Lucia Salomeia At the windows of your soul Regrets cast their weary eyes, They knock at the steamed windows And find a shelter inside. For a short time you keep your gates enchained, You close your eyes And try to run away in darkness, Hoping that thus you won’t be found. You think that darkness is enough, But no, It isn’t that way, It’s not that easy to forget. Deep memories keep haunting you. You lose them for a second, But soon they gather And start whispering their grief Into your ears. You can’t escape their existence, You can’t escape the shadows of the past. Tears are bitter now… A tear of dew And one of wax That spring from deep inside your heart Are now running down your cheeks. You light a candle So you won’t get lost Into the mist of your mind. Everything is dim and confusing, Like a rose in the desert, Like a tear in flames. Suddenly, for a moment, It sparkles from the unseen, Something from the brightness of the happy sun, Something from the glimmer of a lost smile. Who did you belong to, So silent, in this world? What pure, long lost laughter Is there to be found?
