The high street is buzzing
in the morning light
a stream of bodies flow
toward that one shore –
today it is clothes –
tomorrow toys
the bargains are many,
the prices low
At sunrise the battle begins
for the cheapest,
the largest quantity,
squirrels hoarding
for the winter shortage
When the store is empty
proud hunters come home
with their prey to show
and feed themselves and their family
with the day’s superficiality
